About the Role

The Finance Director of Dow Jones will play a critical leadership role in driving the financial performance and strategic direction of multiple key business segments within Dow Jones. You will serve as a strategic advisor to the Advertising, Events, Leadership Institute and Brand Marketing operating teams, providing insights and guidance to enable data-driven decision-making and ensure the business achieves its financial and operational goals. You will be based in our NYC office reporting to the SVP of Finance.

You Will:

P&L Ownership:

  • Have full accountability for the Profit and Loss statement, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.

  • Maximize revenue growth by leveraging financial insights to develop innovative strategies, optimize product offerings, and identify new market opportunities.

  • Monitor and manage costs, ensuring operational efficiency and margin optimization.

  • Drive financial performance through strategic initiatives, operational efficiencies, and market positioning.

  • Own the forecast, budget and Long Range planning process.

KPI Development and Management

  • Establish and track key financial indicators across revenue and cost dimensions to gauge business performance.

  • Implement cost-related KPIs to ensure fiscal discipline and transparency.

Operational Excellence:

  • Lead the enhancement of revenue reporting systems to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial data.

  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments for optimal resource and headcount management.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Serve as a key financial advisor to the group leaders, helping shape and balance short-term performance with long-term strategy.

  • Work closely with sales leadership and other cross-functional leaders to pinpoint opportunities and mitigate risks.

  • Lead the Budget and Long Range Plan strategic planning process.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and guide a high-performing team, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability and collaboration.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as a liaison for key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Communicate business performance, financial analysis, risks, and opportunities to Dow Jones senior management effectively.
