Your area of work
As an Intern Risk Controlling & Governance (f/m/d) you will support a core function of Clearstreams Risk Management, contributing to the monitoring and safeguarding of the overall risk profile of Clearstream as part of Deutsche Brse Group. You will work closely with teams across Non-Financial Risk, Risk Framework & Governance, ICS, Risk Culture, and project governance streams. The main purpose of the Risk Management area is to monitor the overall risk profile so that developments that could jeopardize the interests of the company can be identified and suitable countermeasures can be deployed. You will be actively taking part in our process, while we are offering you diverse, interesting and above all challenging tasks.
Your responsibilities:
- You will generate analyses and decision-making documents on current risk management topics, including deepdive assessments and thematic research on structural risk drivers
- You will contribute to AIdriven efficiency initiatives across the section, including building prompt libraries, researching relevant AI use cases and supporting small proofofconcepts to enhance reporting, analysis speed, and process robustness
- You will contribute to methodological or datadriven miniprojects, e.g., small statistical case studies on emerging risk drivers, trend analysis across risk event data, or testing improvements in reporting templates and risk indicators
- You will support in sectionwide research activities, including targeted deepdives on regulatory developments (e.g., CSDR, EMIR, DORA) and preparation of short briefing papers for senior management to feed into governance discussions
- You will contribute to ongoing project work across the section, including structured research, documentation and PMO style support
- You will support the risk identification and assessment together with crossfunctional business units, including the preparation of case studies and statistical analysis where relevant
- You will assist with daily and recurring risk management operations, including administrative and organizational tasks that support efficient section wide processes
Your profile:
- You are enrolled during the entire period of activity at a state-recognized university as a regular student and have completed at least 2 semesters (study focus in the field of economics, business studies, mathematics, physics, computer science, or other relevant fields)
- Ideally, you have already gained first practical experience in the context of an internship in the financial sector
- You have a strong interest in governance, regulatory frameworks and risk management methodologies, and are eager to understand how risk appetite, internal controls, and enterprisewide risk frameworks are applied in practice
- You are curious about emerging technologies and datadriven work, ideally with first exposure to analytics tools (e.g., Python, Power BI, or similar) or a strong interest in learning how data and AI can support risk processes
- Thanks to your communicative nature, you quickly find your way into the team. Besides working in teams, you have the ability to work independently, and your analytical skills and your motivation help you to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics
- You have advanced knowledge in MS Office (in particular MS Excel, MS Word and MS Power Point)
- You are fluent in written and spoken English
