We are seeking a Senior Principal Auditor to join our Risk Management coverage within Group Audits Finding Validation Centre. This is a senior SME role with leadership responsibility, suited to an experienced risk management professional who can lead complex audits, coach auditors, and engage confidently with senior stakeholders. The role reports directly to the Principal Audit Manager (PAM).

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead and coordinate multiple, complex review/audit of finding remediations within Risk Management (with a primary focus on Credit Risk and/or Model Risk), ensuring highquality outcomes delivered on time and with strong professional judgment.
  • Provide daytoday leadership to auditors assigned to your engagements, setting clear direction, reviewing work, and rolemodelling best practice.

Risk & Control Assessment

  • Assess the effectiveness of risk management practices and controls (with a primary focus on Credit Risk and/or Model Risk) and articulate clear, balanced conclusions.
  • Challenge the adequacy of remediation actions through structured review, testing, and professional scepticism.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a primary point of contact for senior stakeholders (up to Managing Director level), communicating progress, key issues, and outcomes clearly and constructively.
  • Manage disagreements and escalations professionally, maintaining independence while building trusted working relationships.

Planning & Coordination

  • Support audit planning activities by helping to scope work, prioritise effort based on risk, and coordinate with other audit teams to ensure joinedup coverage.
  • Monitor delivery across assigned workstreams and proactively flag risks to timelines or quality.

Coaching & Knowledge Sharing

  • Coach and develop auditors through feedback, onthejob guidance, and knowledge sharing, contributing to capability building across the team.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and industry developments and share insights to strengthen audit quality and risk awareness.

Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of meaningful experience in Credit Risk and/or Model Risk within financial services, with a strong understanding of risk governance and control frameworks.
  • Proven track record leading complex, timesensitive reviews or projects, ideally within audit, risk management, or a comparable assurance environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage, challenge, and influence senior management.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear messages.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics). Professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA, CPA, CIA) are an advantage.
