This is your opportunity to join Deloitte's market-leading Value Creation Services team and work on the largest, most complex and high-profile deals and performance improvement engagements in the UK and globally.

You will be working on high profile acquisitions, disposals, carve outs and performance improvement assessments for prominent corporate businesses and private equity houses across a range of geographies and have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects within a highly commercial environment.

You will use your experience of operational performance improvement and M&A operational due diligence and develop an impressive range of operational consulting skills that will multiply your career options. Deloittes Value Creation Services team supports corporates and private equity backed businesses with a focus on improving the value of the underlying business. Our work takes a pragmatic approach to assess and deliver operational improvements to cash and EBITDA, and on operational considerations throughout the M&A transaction lifecycle, including pre-deal operational due diligence, performance improvement evaluations, synergy and carve-out assessments, divestments, pre-deal full potential assessments and post-deal 100-day plans. The team comprises highly experienced practitioners with a background in operations management, transformation implementation and the operational elements of acquisitions and divestments and is a core part of Deloitte's market-leading Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory group.

Your role will be to use your operational value creation and M&A expertise deliver services ranging across carve-out assessments, performance improvement evaluations, operational due diligence, 100-day planning and synergy development and review assignments.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing businesses with both buy- and sell-side transaction operational due diligence;
  • Assisting businesses in understanding the true operational capability of potential acquisition targets as well as existing owned businesses, feeding into their overall investment theses;
  • Working with these businesses in the assessment and review of potential synergies, the impact and complexities of carve-outs on vendor and target organisations and the stand-alone performance improvement potential of buyouts and corporate divestments;
  • Outside the context of M&A transactions, assisting clients in assessing the value creation potential within their business, working hands-on with management teams to get buy-in across the business and implement agreed initiatives within an accelerated timeframe to maximize value, and developing action plans to deliver against performance improvement initiatives;
  • Working with colleagues within M&A and the broader Deloitte network, to provide our clients with end-to-end deal services with a coherent overview of the business operations, performance gaps and the potential for rapid improvement;
  • Managing the development and completion of the engagement scope and completion of client deliverables;
  • Leading the day-to-day delivery on engagements, reporting into the team of Directors and Partners;
  • Supporting management of client relationships and in most cases being a key client contact on engagements;
  • Supporting the development of service offerings and evolving propositions to drive practice growth;
  • Supporting training and developing team members in role;
  • Leading diverse teams of Managers and Assistant Managers within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution;
  • Participating in grade-appropriate training to further your personal development.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

Essentials:

  • Corporate experience as a line manager or internal consultant with a significant role in realising performance improvement or delivering an operational turnaround at an accelerated pace;
  • Proven experience in the implementation of either cost reduction, cash and working capital or liquidity management initiatives;
  • Preference for experience in financial services, energy, natural resources and industrials, or consumer industries;
  • Experience from working in a related professional services role;
  • Excellent financial analysis skills;
  • Strong problem solving, business diagnostic and analytical skills including excellent Excel capabilities;
  • A strong understanding of business operations;
  • Very strong analytical skills and experience in Excel and/or other BI tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI etc) and active engagement with, and adoption of, AI tools to drive efficiency;
  • Experience of operating with senior level stakeholders in the corporate and/or private equity industry;
  • Ability to fluently communicate and present in both oral and written English;
  • Strong commercial acumen and project management capability with a track record of successful delivery.

Desirables:

  • Experience of working in the M&A / deal environment, specifically due diligence or operational performance improvement, carve-outs and synergies;
  • Experience of operating with private equity portfolio companies and senior level stakeholders;
  • Strong commercial acumen and project management capability;
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring or counselling colleagues;
