Join the Database Services department to shape enterprise data platforms supporting thousands of critical applications across a highly regulated and technology-diverse banking environment. The Database Services department is responsible for delivering secure, resilient, cost-efficient, and modern database platforms that power business-critical workloads across on-premises and cloud environments.

This role provides an opportunity to work with a diverse technology stack including Database Technologies (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, IBM Db2), Cloud Platforms (AWS), Data Replication and Migration Technologies (AWS DMS, CDC), Automation (Ansible, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Python, APIs), Containerization (EKS, OpenShift), Data Platform Technologies, Security and Compliance controls, Performance Engineering, High Availability and Disaster Recovery architectures, and AI-enabled database operations.
What You Will Be Doing
You will collaborate with Engineering Managers, Architects, Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, and senior stakeholders to define the strategic direction of database services and data platform modernization.
- Define database technology strategy, platform selection, and architectural decision-making across the organization
- Design scalable, secure, and resilient database platforms supporting critical business services and applications
- Lead modernization initiatives including migration to cloud-native and open-source alternatives
- Establish database engineering standards, best practices, and reference architectures across multiple technologies.
- Drive cloud database adoption and define target architectures for AWS and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Design automation capabilities that improve reliability, reduce operational effort, and accelerate platform delivery.
- Optimize database performance, resilience, and cost efficiency across large-scale environments.
- Define enterprise-wide backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
- Leverage AI and data-driven capabilities to enhance database observability, operational excellence, and engineering productivity.
- Design and implement modern Database Platform Services that support application modernization and cloud transformation programs.
- Ensure database platforms meet security, compliance, audit, and risk management requirements.
- Share architectural direction and industry best practices with stakeholders to guide engineers, architects, and technology leaders.
About You
We believe you are a strong match for this role if you possess broad technology expertise combined with deep knowledge of enterprise database platforms, cloud technologies, and large-scale system design.
Experience in some of the areas below is required; expertise across all domains is not expected.
- Five years or more of experience in Database Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Software Engineering, or Cloud Architecture
- Expert-level knowledge of enterprise database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, IBM Db2)
- Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud services and database architecture design
- Experience designing highly available, scalable, and resilient database solutions for mission-critical workloads
- Strong understanding of data replication, migration, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery technologies
- Knowledge of infrastructure technologies including networking, storage, Kubernetes, operating systems, and security controls
- Experience with automation technologies including Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, APIs, and Infrastructure-as-Code
- Programming and scripting proficiency in Python, Go, Java, SQL, or similar languages, with experience in database monitoring, performance tuning, capacity management, and troubleshooting
- Experience driving database modernization, cloud migration, and technology simplification initiative
- Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, combined with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
- Advanced English language skills
Experience applying AI technologies to database engineering, operations, automation, or developer productivity would be a valuable addition to your background.
