Your tasks

As a Specialist in TM Specialised Lending with a focus on the Equator Principles (EP) and ESG due diligence, you will play a key role in ensuring robust environmental and social risk management in Commerzbanks project finance and project-related corporate lending transactions. In this role, you will help ensure alignment with the Equator Principles, the OECD Common Approaches, and other relevant ESG frameworks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Classifying and assessing the environmental and social risks associated with relevant projects, based on the environmental and social standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC)
  • Performing environmental and social reviews and analyses, including assessments of compliance with the Equator Principles, and developing related covenant and condition language for loan documentation
  • Providing expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders on project-specific measures required to meet the Equator Principles, OECD Common Approaches, and other applicable ESG standards
  • Coordinating banking syndicates, borrowers, sponsors, Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), ESG advisers, and other relevant counterparties (for example exporters or EPC contractors) to define the environmental and social standards required for each project.

This position is fixed-term until 29 February 2028.

Your profile

  • A masters degree or an equivalent qualification, ideally in a technical, scientific, or social sciences discipline
  • Several years of proven experience applying the Equator Principles or comparable ESG frameworks in international financing transactions and projects and their practical application in loan structures, documentation, and covenant design
  • Strong working knowledge of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards and environmental, social, resettlement, biodiversity, human rights and climate topics
  • Extensive experience in managing and conducting environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA), Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD), and Environmental & Social Action Plans (ESAP) in the context of structured finance transactions
  • Hands-on experience working with external ESG advisers, Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), and other financing parties to ensure compliance with the Equator Principles
  • A confident and professional presence, combined with strong communication and influencing skills
  • A strong results-oriented and solution-driven mindset, with a high level of commitment and ownership
  • Strong intercultural awareness and the ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Excellent English language skills; additional language skills such as German, French, or Spanish would be an advantage
