Description

The Senior Geopatial Business Analyst is a strategic professional who works within Citibanks North American Network Distribution team to optimize the branch and ATM network. This role is focused on scoping, managing, and producing complex analytical projects and deliverables concerning strategic issues such as market, trade area, and site potential, as well as defining distribution formats for an evolving operational environment. As a recognized technical authority with basic commercial awareness, the analyst will stay abreast of developments within the field and contribute to directional strategy, providing advice and counsel related to the technology and operations of the business. Success in this role requires developed communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence, and convince colleagues and stakeholders. The work has a significant impact on the area and affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function.

Major Responsibilities

  • Produce large multi-faceted projects from conception to completion including development of specification, generation of analysis, and delivery of results.
  • Apply project management best practices to manage project plans that fit the stakeholders/ customers needs while driving business results.
  • Promote team development and partner involvement through ongoing communication, milestone and status updates, and review of lessons-learned upon project completion.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to understand business objectives and develop deliverables that drive consensus around strategic recommendations
  • Use GIS and analytical software to provide in-depth, sophisticated analysis through manipulation, exploration, summarization, and modeling of disparate data and information.
  • Assess project risk potential and discover potential operational and tactical risk factors before they occur.  Escalate issues to project manager as appropriate to keep projects on task.
  • Build and maintain tools, databases, analytical procedures, and templates to support analytical work and streamline regular processes.
  • Develop executive-level presentations and strategic deliverables that synthesize complex analytical findings into clear, concise business recommendations tailored for senior leadership audiences.
  • Stay abreast of current industry trends and new technology.
  • Contribute to critical business strategic decisions through provided services.
  • Some travel for field research and in-person meetings.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience performing quantitative and spatial analysis.  Experience in market planning and site selection for banking or retail a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree in Geography, Economics, or related field minimum.  Graduate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, integrate, and communicate complex requirements specific to applied retail GIS to both non-technical and technical personnel.
  • Ability to balance a deep and diverse project load in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how own area and others integrate to achieve business objectives.
  • Expertise in desktop GIS (ESRI, MapInfo) and the application of geospatial data including demographics to address site location questions.
  • Experience with the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in statistical concepts and software packages (SAS, SPSS).
  • Strong problem solving abilities, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Embraces change and remains positive and flexible within evolving strategic environment.
  • Expertise in data visualization principles and storytelling techniques, with the ability to transform analytical outputs into persuasive business narratives.
