Job Description: Java Full Stack Developer

Job Purpose

As a Java Full Stack Developer , you will be a key technical contributor responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and secure enterprise-grade web applications. This role requires a hands-on engineer with deep expertise in both backend Java microservices and modern frontend frameworks (Angular/React).

At the C12 grade, you are expected to demonstrate technical leadership, drive engineering excellence, mentor junior developers, and collaborate closely with architects, product owners, and global business stakeholders to deliver robust software solutions that align with Citi's strategic technology roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

1. Software Design & Development

  • Full-Stack Engineering: Design, build, and deploy end-to-end features, ensuring seamless integration between frontend user interfaces and backend microservices.
  • Backend Development: Develop robust, secure, and scalable RESTful APIs and microservices using Java (11/17+) and Spring Boot.
  • Frontend Development: Create responsive, intuitive, and high-performance user interfaces using Angular (preferred) or React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, adhering to enterprise design systems.
  • Database Management: Design and optimize database schemas, write efficient queries, and integrate with relational databases (Oracle) and NoSQL databases (Optional).

2. Architecture & Engineering Excellence

  • Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Conduct rigorous code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and performance benchmarks.
  • Test Automation: Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit testing (JUnit, Mockito), integration testing, and frontend testing (Jasmine, Karma, Jest).
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Leverage modern CI/CD pipelines (using Citi's Lightspeed platform, Harness, and Tekton) to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Cloud & Containerization: Package and deploy applications using Docker and manage containerized workloads on Red Hat OpenShift or AWS.

3. Collaboration & Leadership

  • Agile Delivery: Active participation in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and product demos).
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical growth.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Partner with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and System Architects to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and execution plans.
  • Production Support: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving critical production issues, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing long-term remediations.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

Required Technical Expertise:

  • Java Ecosystem: Strong proficiency in Java 11/17+Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA.
  • Frontend Technologies: Hands-on experience with Angular (v12+) or React, TypeScript, RxJS, State Management (NgRx/Redux), HTML5, CSS3, and SASS.
  • Microservices Architecture: Deep understanding of microservices design patterns, API gateways, service discovery, and event-driven architecture (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
  • Database Technologies: Experience with relational databases ( Oracle) and NoSQL databases.
  • DevOps & Tools: Proficiency with Git/Bitbucket, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins/Harness, Docker, and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
  • Security Standards: Solid understanding of secure coding practices, OWASP Top 10, OAuth2, OIDC, and secret management (HashiCorp Vault).

Professional Experience & Soft Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in a full-stack capacity.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional, and globally distributed team environment.

Education

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
