Based inCharlotte, NC with frequent travel to New York, the candidate will workalongside members of the investment teamoninvestment execution,duediligence, portfolio management, sourcingstrategyand partnership activities with theimpactinvesting and startup communityIn addition, this person will partner with subject matter expertswithinCitito drive collaboration and findopportunitiesto advance the success of our portfolio companies and thefield as a whole.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Execution

  • Leaddiligenceand investment thesis buildingon prospective investment opportunities;prepare investmentmemorandums,buildfinancial models,conduct market research andpresent to internal investment committeeandmanageapproval processes

  • Work cross-functionally within the firmon both new investment andfollow-on investmentprocesses;maintainclose relationships and build trust with business partners internally 

  • Support sourcing, market landscaping and thesis building activities within the Funds focus areas

  • Developstrong relationships with keyventure capital,impact investing,andstart-upecosystem playersand represent the Fund at industry events

PortfolioSupport andManagement

  • Managea portfolio of investments,monitoringcompany performance,trackingfinancial and impact results,and preparinginternalquarterly portfolio reviewsandotheranalyses

  • Support follow-on investmentopportunities, including diligence,approvals,executionand structuring

  • Support portfolio companies by attending founder meetings and enabling partnerships across Citi to help support portfolio company growth

  • Leadinternal partnerengagementongovernanceandoperationalitemsoverthe life cycle of an investment

  • Manageportfolioanalysis and dataprojectsforCiti risk and control functions andfirm-wide reportingneeds

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the Citi Impact Fundsfocus on driving economic opportunity and innovatingin impact investing

  • 2+years of experience inprivate equity / venture capitalinvesting; total of4-5+ years of experience in relevant role (investment banking, strategy consulting, corporate finance, or direct business/start up operatingexperience in oneof the funds investment verticals)

  • Strong preference for directinvestingexperiencein at least one of Citi Impact Funds key verticals; specific experience or interest in impact investing strongly preferred

  • Candidate must have strong finance and investment acumen including an ability to develop and manage complex financial models,be comfortable withdata analysis and excel, and working with large data sets,conduct rigorous primary market and industry diligence,prepare valuationanalysisandsynthesize in written investment materials

  • Strong communicationand relationship management skillsas well as an entrepreneurialspiritto takeownership of internal projects such as process improvements,drivingAI efficiency

  • Attention to detail and desire to deliverhigh qualitywork productsthat drivekeydecisions

  • Confidentinterpersonal skills and comfortcontributing todiscussions at senior levels

  • Natural curiosity for learning new things and proactively sharing information with others
