Job Overview

Citi is looking for a seasoned Credit Risk Officer at the Vice President level to join our Commercial Lending Management team in Taguig City, Philippines a senior credit role where your analytical expertise directly shapes sound lending decisions and drives the quality of Citi's commercial credit portfolio. In this position, you will serve as a recognized credit authority, partnering closely with bankers to assess, structure, and decision complex commercial credit requests across a diverse client base. Your work will influence the credit risk framework of a global institution serving clients at every stage of their financial journey.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end credit underwriting for commercial lending requests, owning credit decisions for new and existing clients in alignment with Citi's credit risk policies and regulatory standards.
  • Produce detailed credit memos and written analyses that assess business viability, interpret financing needs, identify key risk factors, and deliver a clear, well-supported credit recommendation.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis including trend analysis, ratio analysis, and financial spreading on companies with complex structures, including those with foreign subsidiaries or parent organizations.
  • Evaluate the repayment capacity of individuals, guarantors, and co-borrowers through analysis of cash flow statements, tax returns, and personal financial statements.
  • Perform industry and market research, geographical due diligence, and competitive analysis to inform credit assessments and support portfolio management.
  • Monitor compliance with Citi's credit policies and applicable regulatory requirements, ensuring the business unit maintains satisfactory standing with internal and external auditors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve underwriting processes and service delivery, collaborating with the management team to prioritize and implement approved changes.
  • Mentor junior credit officers and provide leadership coverage for the Credit Underwriting Group, contributing to team capability and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 610 years of credit authority experience within commercial or small business lending, including exposure to regulatory and compliance policy environments.
  • Advanced analytical capability to assess individual and company financial statements, cash flow positions, and industry-level dynamics including complex organizational structures with cross-border entities.
  • Solid grounding in accounting principles and their practical application in the credit underwriting process.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive credit write-ups and memos that clearly communicate risk, structure, and decision rationale.
  • Strong organizational discipline with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive credit assessments accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across functions and seniority levels.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools, including the ability to build and interpret financial models, graphs, and charts.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience managing or contributing to a commercial credit portfolio, including monitoring credit performance and portfolio-level risk trends.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of Citi or comparable institutional banking products and services across the consumer and commercial spectrum.
