Job Overview

Citis Commercial Lending Management (CLM) team is a core inbusiness credit function within the U.S. Commercial Bank. CLM partners directly with Relationship Managers and Independent Risk to deliver disciplined underwriting, strong portfolio oversight, and wellstructured lending solutions for middlemarket clients.

We are seeking a Commercial Credit Officer (AVP) to join our team in Irving, Texas, one of Citis largest commercial credit and risk hubs. This role offers endtoend exposure to underwriting and portfolio management, supporting a diverse portfolio of commercial clients.

Role Overview

The Credit Officer (AVP) is responsible for supporting the underwriting, structuring, and ongoing monitoring of commercial lending exposures. The role partners closely with bankers and risk teams to evaluate new transactions, manage portfolio risk, and support credit approvals.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Underwriting & Portfolio Ownership

  • Support the endtoend credit process for new and existing commercial relationships
  • Partner with Relationship Managers to assess new opportunities and key credit risks
  • Prepare and review underwriting analysis for transactions, renewals, amendments, and annual reviews
  • Support credit decisioning in partnership with Independent Risk

Risk Management & Monitoring

  • Monitor portfolio performance, including financial trends, covenant compliance, and exposure levels
  • Identify emerging risks and escalate concerns with recommended mitigation actions
  • Ensure appropriate risk ratings and regulatory classification

Execution & Transaction Support

  • Support loan documentation and closing processes in coordination with legal and internal stakeholders
  • Assist in managing credit workflow, timelines, and deliverables for active transactions

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Banking, Risk, Legal, and Product teams across the organization
  • Participate in internal credit discussions and portfolio reviews
  • Build strong working relationships to support deal execution and portfolio management

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide guidance and support to junior analysts as needed
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and controls
  • Continue to build industry and credit product expertise

Qualifications & Experience

  • 58 years of experience in commercial credit, underwriting, portfolio management, or credit risk
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field
  • Strong foundation in financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and credit fundamentals
  • Ability to assess credit risk and articulate a clear credit view
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience within a large or regional financial institution
  • Exposure to middlemarket or commercial banking clients
  • Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus
