Job Overview
Citi is looking for a Securities Services Client Service AVP to join our Securities Services Operations team in Japan, where you will serve as the primary point of contact for institutional investors while taking direct ownership of client and their securities transaction in Japan market. You will work within a globally connected team to deliver exceptional service outcomes and operational excellence for some of Japan's most significant institutional clients.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for institutional clients on all matters relating to settlement processes, portfolio queries, and asset services, ensuring issues are resolved accurately and on time.
- Manage the end-to-end clearance, settlement, and investigation of securities and derivatives transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners to deliver client service that consistently meets expectations, escalating and resolving complex issues before they impact clients.
- Process Japanese equity and fixed income trade and settlement matching for both domestic and non-resident clients, including collateral and pledge management.
- Oversee corporate actions processing, ensuring clients receive accurate and timely notifications and entitlements.
- Identify gaps in existing workflows and formulate process improvements that reduce risk and increase settlement efficiency.
- Contribute to strategic projects including new product launches, platform upgrades, and digitalization initiatives that enhance the client experience.
- Guide junior team members through on-the-job coaching, sharing expertise in securities settlement and client service best practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Hands-on experience in securities settlement operations or custody operations, with specific knowledge of Japanese equity and fixed income trade and settlement matching for domestic and non-resident clients.
- Demonstrated ability to manage institutional client relationships, resolving service issues and maintaining high client satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of collateral and pledge management practices in the Japanese market.
- Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English, enabling effective communication with clients and global internal teams.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- JSDA certification (regulatory requirement for this role in Japan).
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with derivatives transaction processing, including analytical support for trading desk review.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and reporting applications used in securities operations environments.
- Prior involvement in project implementation for new financial products, services, or platform upgrades.
- Proficiency in using AI tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT to improve productivity and support day-to-day decision-making in a financial services environment.
- Ability to evaluate AI-generated outputs critically, applying sound judgement to verify accuracy and quality before acting on results.
- Experience applying AI for research, analysis, content creation, or workflow automation to improve operational efficiency.
