Our 12-week summer programme gives you the opportunity to build your technical knowledge, develop key skills and learn more about life at bp. You'll be part of one team throughout your internship, supported by a dedicated line manager and buddy. Therell be opportunities to connect with other interns, take part in training and grow your network across the business.

Internship projects could take place in the following areas:

Commodity risk: Working in commodity risk means you must understand, control and constructively challenge trading activity and positions on a near real-time basis within supply, trading & shipping to ensure it is compliant and aligned with the intended trading strategy.

Credit risk: The function provides independent risk oversight of counterparty risks inherent in trading activities, risk analytics and advice on deal structuring & risk mitigation to support the business. Quantitative tools & techniques are deployed to assess and measure credit risks. The team collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver commercial goals. Interns can learn to perform risk quantification, analysis/review, monitoring & reporting and work on global projects.

Commercial development (CD): We are a dynamic team that collaborates closely with the trading & origination organisation and support functions to enable value creation in supply, trading & shipping. We challenge the status quo, apply commercial acumen, and drive strategic initiatives to solve complex problems.

Operational excellence: As part of the operational excellence team, you will help with managing, setting and promoting new and continuing improvement initiatives that are compliant with operational risk standards and internal control processes across supply, trading & shipping.

About you

As a bp intern, you will have an interest and/or skill in delivering economic value back to a business, identifying solutions and strategies resulting in cost savings and a natural negotiation style. No matter where you work at bp, youll be valued, included and respected. Well provide you with on-going support and well reward you for the great work you do. Over the course of the internship programme, youll have the opportunity to learn about our graduate programme as our summer internship is a primary pipeline for our 2028 finance & risk graduate programme.
