Intent  

The Reliability & Maintenance Engineer - Front-End provides expertise to maintenance and reliability design for projects that have not yet reached the final investment decision at the execute gate in the project process.  This role provides maintenance and reliability input to assigned early-stage projects in bp to help us ensure future reliability in our facilities and minimize future maintenance.  

They are also expected to work on Operating asset RAM analysis to provide recommendations and insight into operational constraints and opportunities to improve performance 

Responsibilities  

  • Ability to step-in and lead teams to step-up for DL when needed for day-to-day business. 

  • Develop and update Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) Models to simulate the performance of future projects.  Agree the input data and assumptions of these models with key stakeholders.  Merge the results of these models with the maintenance model to understand the relative impacts of maintenance on reliability and vice-versa. 

  • A peer reviewer for the team and suggest improvements and learnings  

  • Develop maintenance cost estimates for facility designs 

  • Provide recommendations to maintenance programs for new projects & operating assets. 

  • Provide maintenance cost estimates for projects in various stages  

  • Analyze the cost/benefit of spare part stocks in Front End stage using dedicated software 

  • Develop life cycle cost estimates for equipment. 

  • Provide OE benchmarking tool services to assets  

  • Work on new service offerings as advised by the Discipline Lead 

Education  

Must have education requirements: 

  • Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Materials, Production etc.) or relevant science degree 

Must have certifications: 

Preferred education/certifications: 

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability professional (CMRP) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is preferred 

 

Experience and job requirements  

Minimum years of relevant experience: 

  • 7+ yrs of relevant technical experience in RAM and Reliability Engineering principles 

Total years of experience:  

  • 12+ yrs of industry experience 

Must have experiences/skills

  • The position demands leadership, organizational and communication skills, technical ability and a willingness to learn  

  • Able to train and support other team members in RAM, Cost Estimation, Spares analysis, WITNESS, Reliability Engg. Etc. 

  • Experience leading Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) models using dedicated software. 

  • Ability to engage and work with operations personnel, stakeholders and project contractors / suppliers. 

  • Excellent facilitation skills with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the project and operations teams. 

  • Self-motivation, able to motivate others and ability to work both independently and minimal supervision as a productive member of the team. 

  • Lead and be part of initiatives to design and offer new services working with DL and stakeholders.

Good to have experiences/skills

  • Experience working in the Oil and Gas industry or a related industry in projects or operations. 

  • Experience analyzing, specifying or executing maintenance programs on equipment. 

  • Experience using Isograph, Availability Simulator (AvSim) software or equivalent. 

  • Experience with development and deployment of work management systems (CMMS SAP, Maximo). 

  • Experience using SAP, OnePM or GE APM software. 

  • Experience working on projects in the design phases 

 

Shift support 

Based on work assigned, may have to work 11.30am 8.30pm or 2pm - 11pm shift 

% travel requirements  - 20%
