Responsibilities
HSSE focus and ability to influence compliance standards for Safety and Operational Risks.
Support well planning activities and construction of relevant NWS documents consistent with bps Wells Common Process, WCD-SOR (Wells Concept Document, Statement of Requirements) D1-D5 Stage Gates (all process decision points are numbered D1-D11).
Assist in the creation of pre-drill risk registers and ensure mitigation and contingency plans are created for all geological risks.
Ensure integration of well planning and operational activity through strong collaboration with key stakeholders, NWS (New Wells Solutions), and Wells leadership.
Lead New Well Delivery efforts in late-stage well design activities consistent with bp well planning process.
Lead the creation of the Geological Operations Procedure prior to drilling, the End of Well Report, and relevant handover documents following TD.
Lead subsurface operations meetings with relevant multidisciplinary teams/entities (WSG, ML, LWD).
Lead no-drilling-surprises work for well planning, expected geology in subsurface hole section previews, and reviews.
Participate in DWOP, LWOP, etc., ensuring that relevant vendors and service providers are engaged early in the process.
Provide assurance and support for wellsite geologist interpretations. Collaborate between Subsurface and Wells Teams to ensure well objectives are delivered safely.
Ensure efficient delivery of data acquisition programs, ensuring vendors are delivering and partners are receiving all required data and updates.
Capture and document all post-well learnings and share in appropriate channels.
Support root cause analysis for any NPT event related to subsurface operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Sciences discipline.
Industry experience in the areas of well planning and operations geology, well-site geology. Working knowledge of drilling operations, pore pressure, and mudlogging is desirable.
Demonstrated expertise in Depletion and Development.
Strong understanding of Depositional Framework and Stratigraphic Frameworks.
Proficiency in Geodesy.
Experience with Geohazard Assessment.
Solid knowledge of Geological Reservoir and Characterization.
Familiarity with Geophysical Surveillance techniques.
Experience in Integrated Resource Progression and Integrated Well Delivery.
Expertise in Petrophysical & Seismic Reservoir Integration.
Proficient in Seismic Analysis, Seismic Stratigraphic Interpretation, and Seismic Structural Interpretation.
Ability to manage Subsurface Uncertainty and Risk.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Geological, seismic and petrophysical log interpretation and workstation skills are essential.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The individual needs to have a collaborative team-first mentality, be self-motivated, with a strong ability to integrate across disciplines.
Petrel or similar interpretative software experience.
