About the Role
We are looking for a senior commercial leader to drive the growth and market positioning of Global Trade Finance Solutions (GTFS) and Structured Trade Finance (STF) across Corporate & Investment Banking in Mexico.
This executive will lead business origination, client acquisition and strategic commercial initiatives, partnering closely with Coverage, Transaction Banking and global product teams to deliver innovative trade solutions to corporate clients. The role combines strong client-facing capabilities with strategic business development, positioning BBVA as a leading partner for trade finance solutions in the Mexican market.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Origination
Lead the commercial promotion and origination of Global Trade Finance Solutions and Structured Trade Finance in Mexico.
Identify, originate and develop new business opportunities across the CIB client portfolio.
Build and maintain a robust commercial pipeline while maximizing conversion into executed transactions.
Develop sector-focused commercial strategies to increase client penetration and revenue generation.
Client Coverage
Act as the primary commercial sponsor for structured trade finance opportunities.
Engage with CFOs, Treasurers and senior executives to understand financing needs and deliver tailored solutions.
Strengthen relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities to expand wallet share.
Strategic Collaboration
Coordinate with Coverage Bankers, Transaction Bankers and Product Specialists to deliver integrated client solutions.
Partner with STF Madrid and GTFS LATAM teams in New York to originate and execute cross-border opportunities.
Facilitate collaboration across local and global stakeholders to accelerate business growth.
Business Management
Develop the annual commercial plan and budget achievement.
Monitor business performance through pipeline quality, conversion ratios, revenues and commercial KPIs.
Participate in local and regional business committees.
Product & Market Development
Identify market trends and client needs to support the development and commercialization of new trade finance capabilities.
Promote knowledge sharing and contribute to strengthening GTFS expertise across the organization.
What Were Looking For
Extensive experience in Trade Finance, Structured Trade Finance
Proven track record in business origination and commercial leadership
Demonstrated ability to engage senior corporate decision-makers, including CFOs and Treasurers.
Excellent stakeholder management skills in multicultural and international environments.
Strong negotiation, presentation and influencing skills.
Strategic mindset with a results-oriented approach.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree mandatory.
MBA desired.
At least 8 years experience in Global Trade Finance Solutions (GTFS) and Structured Trade Finance (STF).
Fluent English and Spanish.
Strong analytical and structuring capabilities.
