Join Barclays as a Vice President Data Engineering Delivery Lead. At Barclays, we are building the bank of tomorrow. As a Strategy and Transformation Lead you will build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

To be successful as a Vice President - Data Engineering Lead, you should have experience with:

  • Strong hands-on expertise in Oracle Database

  • Extensive experience with Hive, Hadoop Ecosystem, and large-scale data processing

  • Strong cloud data engineering experience using AWS Athena, S3, Glue, Lambda

  • Expertise Oracle comprehending the existing SQL queries and writing medium to complex SQL queries

  • Any Cloud (AWS/Azure/Google/Oracle) Certification will be plus.

  • Experience with Data Warehousing, ETL/ELT, Data Lakes, and Data Modeling

  • Knowledge of Python, Shell Scripting, SQL optimization, and performance tuning

  • CI/CD, DevOps, Git, Jenkins, and Agile delivery practices

  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale regulatory, finance, risk, or analytics platforms preferred

Leadership Qualifications

  • Strong stakeholder management across executive, business, and technology leadership

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale transformation and modernization programs

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Knowledge on other Database Technologies like Postgres, MongoDB, Snowflake, DBT etc.

  • Knowledge on other Orchestration tools like Apache Airflow etc.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.
