Join Barclays as a Software Development Engineer in Test , where to effectively monitor and maintain the banks critical technology infrastructure and resolve more complex technical issues, whilst minimising disruption to operations. To be successful as a Software Development Engineer in Test, you should have experience with:

  • Deep hands-on expertise in Java, Selenium, Playwright, Karate, API testing, CI/CD integration and automation architecture.

  • Proven experience building scalable automation frameworks across complex enterprise platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience modernizing testing organizations, driving automation-first strategies, reducing automation debt and improving testing effectiveness at scale.

  • Strong understanding of quality governance, risk management and engineering controls.

  • Experience establishing testing standards, governance frameworks, automation strategies and quality controls for large-scale engineering organizations.

  • Proven capability to define approaches for testing AI-assisted applications, agentic solutions and LLM-driven development workflows while maintaining enterprise-grade safety, traceability and auditability.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience across Securities Lending, Prime Brokerage, Trade Lifecycle, Settlement, Inventory Management or Post-Trade platforms.

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organizations technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
