Join us as a Senior Frontend Developer at Barclays, where you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of location strategy projects to plan, budget, agreed quality and governance standards. You'll spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence. You will harness cutting-edge technology to revolutionise our digital offerings, ensuring unparalleled customer experiences.

To be successful as a Senior Frontend Developer, you should have experience with:

  • Expert-level proficiency in Typescript, Javascript, HTML, CSS/SCSS, Responsive web design.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Angular 20+ and Node js 22+, including component architecture, RxJS observables, dependency injection, lazy loading, change detection strategies, and Angular CLI. Strong understanding of Angular routing, state management (NgRx), and performance optimization techniques.

  • Hands-on experience handling REST APIs with proper HTTP methods, status codes, request/response handling, site security (like XSS/XSRF).

  • Hands-on experience implementing microfrontends. Ability to configure remote/host applications, manage shared dependencies, handle routing across microfrontends.

  • Expertise in building self-contained, reusable components that work independently across different microfrontend applications.

  • Experience with various communication strategies between microfrontends including custom events, shared services.

Desirable skills: 

  • Proficiency in testing microfrontends in isolation and integration, including unit testing with Jasmine/Jest, E2E testing.

  • Practical experience with Docker (creating Dockerfiles, docker-compose for local development), basic Kubernetes concepts, and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or Jenkins. Familiarity with Git version control.

  • Exposure to AI/ML tools for code optimization and willingness to learn emerging technologies.

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.

  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.

  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organizations technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.

  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Assistant Vice President Expectations

  • To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
