Join Barclays as a Global Markets VP. In this role, you will drive the modernization of our linear rates analytics infrastructure: maintaining and extending production analytics libraries, building automated reporting pipelines, and developing real-time streaming capabilities. The role blends quantitative development with an automation mindset, building robust frameworks and services that are used across the business.

To be successful as a Global Markets VP, you should have:

  • Excellent Python and C++ programming skills

  • Proven quantitative understanding of linear rates products and how they are priced and risk-managed

  • Ownership mentality and ability to support multi-faceted projects end-to-end

  • Clear written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Knowledge of interest rate curve construction techniques

  • Experience with event-driven or stream-processing architectures (KDB+, Kafka etc.)

  • Experience building automated workflows and data pipelines in a quantitative or trading environment

  • Experience working within large, complex C++ and Python codebases

Purpose of the role

To provide quantitative and analytical expertise to support trading strategies, risk management, and decision-making within the investment banking domain, applying quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology to optimise trading and investment opportunities. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of quantitative models and strategies to derive insight into market trends and optimize trading decisions, pricing, and risk management across various financial products and markets.
  • Working closely with sales teams to identify clients' needs and develop customised solutions.
  • In-depth research, data analysis, and statistical modelling to derive insights into market trends, pricing, and risk dynamics.
  • Provide front office infrastructure support though ownership and maintenance of analytical libraries.
  • Provision of expertise on quantitative methodologies, technological advancements, and industry best practices to drive innovation within the trading environment.
