Join as an "Equity Strategy - Analyst", integral member of Asia-Pacific Equity Strategy team where you will assist the Strategy team with updating and maintaining databases to track earnings, valuations, economic or other relevant indicators. Also, assisting with conducting top-down analysis on macro-economics, modelling index targets and earnings growth, carrying out quantitative analysis, tracking earnings for companies comprising the index, etc.

         Assist in writing full or parts of research reports; Build marketing presentations with the direction of senior analyst.

         Monitoring relevant market news

         Make productivity improvements using AI tools; candidate should be open to spend some of his/her time using programming skills to develop and maintain databases to enhance productivity.

         The candidate should be able to work under pressure and amid tight deadlines and be able to respond to requests from internal and external clients (both fundamental and quantitative) in a flexible manner.

         The role offers the right candidate a potential to develop and grow knowledge of the workings of a financial market.

Essential Skills:

         Masters in Finance/ MBA /economics from premier Institutes with some experience in research

         CFA/CFA candidate (desirable)

         Experience in macro/strategy research related roles preferred

Desired Skills:

-Proficient in MS Excel, Powerpoint and other MS Office applications

-Experience with financial databases such as Bloomberg, Datastream, FactSet, and CEIC; candidates should have hands-on experience with at least some of these platforms.

-Coding in Python, VBA (desirable)

-Must have is some research experience which demonstrates superior analytical abilities

Personal skills required:

         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

         Strong attention to detail

         Good understanding of equity markets and macroeconomic drivers

         Demonstrated ability to work in a time sensitive environment

         Ability to work effectively in a team environment

         Resourcefulness, and proactive attitude 

         Passion for analysing financial markets

Purpose of the role

To produce and deliver Research with differentiated market insights and actionable ideas to Barclays Clients. 

Accountabilities

  • Analysis of market, sector, corporate and/or economic data to help develop investment theses for your coverage universe to produce best in class Research.
  • Research may range from individual company or sector notes, through to long dated thematic reports.
  • Presentation of Research views to Barclays Clients; this can be through direct, face to face and virtual interactions, Research hosted events and written communications.
  • Engagement with Markets, Client Strategy and other stakeholders, to raise awareness of your Research both to Clients and internally. Prioritise interaction with the most relevant and valuable Clients for your Research.
  • Provision of insights and Research views to internal Clients to help them navigate financial markets and risks.
  • Collaboration with the Supervisory Analyst, Compliance and other stakeholders to ensure Research is produced and delivered to Clients and internal stakeholders in a compliant manner.
