Join us as an Equities Valuations Platform Engineer at Barclays, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our equity valuations infrastructure, driving innovation and excellence. You'll harness technology to revolutionise our platform deployment and platform architecture, ensuring unparalleled customer experiences.

To be successful as an Equities Valuations Platform Engineer, you should have:

  • Practical experience with guiding and supporting teams in the adoption of new technologies, driving best practices and standards; especially using containerised technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
  • Core Java SE 8+ in a commercial environment including experience with Spring ecosystem, XML processing, multi-threading and messaging, JDBC, Hibernate, etc.
  • A deep understanding of design patterns, object-oriented design principles and database design fundamentals

Other highly valued skills include:

  • Experience with Middleware including MQ & JMS and Web Services (SOAP & REST API)
  • Experience with DevOps, source control, unit and integration testing, continuous integration, release management, and other software development practices.
  • Familiarity with investment banking, markets and/or equities and equity derivative domains.

This role will be based in our Prague office.

Entry Salary: K 1,200,000.00

Upper Salary: K 1,683,000.00

The entry and upper salary information above includes only annual full-time equivalent base salary and represents the typical range of pay for the role. The actual pay rate will reflect the responsibility level of the role and experience level of the individual. The entry and upper salary information does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organizations technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Assistant Vice President Expectations

  • To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
