Job overview: Were looking for a talented Data Modelling Manager to head our Data Modelling function. As a confident leader, youll bridge the gap between high-level data architecture and technical execution, ensuring that our conceptual and logical models deliver real impact across the business. You'll leverage your deep understanding of the insurance and financial services sector to lead a dynamic, distributed team, driving speed, quality, and alignment across all UK business units. Key responsibilities: Lead a team of 15-20 data modellers including a large contingent of offshore resources to ensure effective delivery. Develop and implement a data modelling strategy, supporting broader business data objectives, to evolve the maturity of our data platform. Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Architecture team to integrate business models with technical models, ensuring strategic alignment. Communicate complex modelling concepts and data product progress clearly to non-technical senior stakeholders. Oversee the entire modelling lifecycle, embedding processes within data governance and tracking quality and speed. Build a cohesive, high-performing team by fostering collaboration and mentoring team leads. Influence senior leaders by demonstrating the value of data initiatives for business outcomes. Act as a subject matter expert in insurance and health, identifying opportunities to drive strategy and improve performance. Work arrangements: At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. Your skills & experience: Extensive experience working with data within the financial services or insurance sectors, with a strong understanding of industry-specific data needs. Demonstrated leadership in data-focused roles, with the ability to manage, develop, and motivate both onshore and offshore teams. Proven track record in defining and executing data strategies that support and align with business objectives. Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling, along with a solid understanding of broader data architecture principles. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional teams. Strategic thinker capable of translating complex business challenges into effective, data-driven solutions that deliver measurable results. Strong collaboration skills, with a history of fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within data teams.
