We are Accounting Shared Service Centre, a high performing team within Financial Accounting that is responsible for the accounting and reporting of the financials of ABN Amro Mainbanks client units and group functions. We have a pivotal role between our front office stakeholders and the financial chain that ultimately leads to ABN AMROs reporting of financial figures. Your job

As a Senior Accounting Specialist, you will have a critical role in our finance department, with a strong focus on accounting processes. You will manage complex accounting issues and ensure precise application of IFRS regulations. Your expertise will be essential in supporting the business through strategy development, policy formulation, and providing integrated advice. You will also propose actionable solutions. You will conduct investigations and monitor financial accounting processes, providing clear recommendations for improvement. And you will make sure this is properly documented.

Your tasks also include collecting, organizing, validating, analyzing, and reporting financial data to guarantee accurate and complete financial data. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with external laws and internal finance policies, applying your knowledge of financial administration, processes, systems, and accounting principles. You will work closely with other specialists and report directly to the Teamlead Group Functions.

Working environment

Accounting Shared Service Centre is part of Financial Accounting and consists of 51 colleagues. We are responsible for the entire internal and external IFRS reporting of the client units and group functions of ABN Amro mainbank. This includes the client units Personal & Business Banking, Wealth Management and Corporate Banking.

The team demonstrates strong attention to detail, meets deadlines consistently, collaborates effectively and possesses a deep understanding of complex financial transactions. Additionally, adaptability to changes in accounting regulations and a commitment to continuous improvement contribute to the teams overall success. The department is currently implementing a new system environment, which leaves sufficient room for creativity and improvements.

You support the team with your knowledge and experience. You thrive in a continuously changing environment. You collaborate easily, have a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn. In addition, you can relate to the following qualifications: 

• 8+ years of experience in a similar environment
• Extensive experience in banking or financial services
• Masters degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Controlling or similar. Being a chartered Accountant or Controller (RA/ACCA/RC) is a plus
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes and standards
• Deep understanding of regulatory compliance in the financial industry
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
