The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all incoming and outgoing shipments, managing inventory, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the smooth operation of shipping and receiving processes. This role involves supervising the handling of packages and equipment, verifying shipments, coordinating with carriers and vendors, and ensuring compliance with company standards. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and technical proficiency to effectively manage shipping, receiving, and inventory tasks.
Core Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Operations: Oversee the receipt, inspection, and distribution of incoming shipments; ensure outgoing shipments are properly prepared, labeled, and scheduled for carrier pickup.
Verification & Inspection: Verify shipments against purchase orders, inspect for damage, and report any discrepancies or issues.
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of shipments and inventory using tracking software; ensure proper storage and organization of items in designated areas.
Asset Management: Supervise the tagging, logging, and secure storage of high-value equipment; ensure compliance with asset management protocols.
Vendor & Carrier Coordination: Communicate with carriers and vendors to resolve delays, track lost shipments, and escalate claims for damaged or missing items.
Team Supervision: Provide guidance and support to shipping and receiving staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline shipping and receiving processes, improve efficiency, and reduce errors.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with shipping and inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar tools) and mailroom or warehouse equipment.
Attention to Detail: Strong precision in verifying shipments, tracking serial numbers, and ensuring compliance with company standards.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move packages or equipment up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to supervise and motivate a team, delegate tasks, and manage workflows effectively.
Communication & Customer Service: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and carriers.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues related to shipments, inventory discrepancies, and logistics challenges.
Location: Primary location in NJ with tri-state area coverage, including area travel
The estimated base salary range for this position is $50,000 to $100,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future.
