About This Opportunity
We’re looking for an ambitious and highly motivated leader to head our Markets Operations Financial Control team - a critical function that safeguards the accuracy and integrity of Markets transactions and underpins the Group’s financial reporting.
In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee the quality control of Markets-related financial activity, lead a high-performing specialist team, and ensure the successful delivery of our year‑end audit cycle. You'll have the opportunity to influence key governance forums, shape digital and operational improvements, and strengthen relationships across Finance, Operations, and Audit.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead and empower a team of specialists to proactively manage exceptions from cash, stock and finance reconciliations across LBCM, the CIB Ringfenced Bank and GCT, ensuring timely and risk‑aligned resolution.
Represent Markets Operations at governance forums, providing insight‑rich data and analysis to support performance oversight, strengthen risk appetite awareness, and inform decision‑making.
Provide quality control over financial transactions contributing to regulatory returns, statutory audit support and SOX reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance.
Build strong, influential relationships across Operations, Finance, GCOO Group Reconciliations, SOX and external audit partners - acting as the primary representative for Markets Operations.
Maintain a forward-looking view of industry change, Group strategy and external regulatory developments to understand how these trends influence the future operating and control framework.
Develop, coach and motivate your team, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong succession pipelines and a positive, performance-led team culture.
Manage team resources effectively, balancing headcount, priorities and project roadmaps to support optimal service delivery and future planning.
Champion innovation, driving new processing models, scalable digital enhancements and improved risk‑mitigation approaches that keep pace with a fast‑evolving regulatory and technology environment.
What You'll Need
Deep knowledge of markets products, end-to-end systems and operational risk, enabling robust oversight of complex middle‑office, settlements and transaction reporting processes.
A proven ability to turn complex business and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable delivery plans that land effectively with senior stakeholders.
A strong track record of delivery in complex, multi-dimensional, fast‑moving Financial and Capital Markets environments.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams, hierarchies and specialist areas.
In‑depth understanding of global regulatory, statutory and audit requirements.
