As an Infrastructure Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you develop knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Through this work you begin to apply your proficiency in a single application or technical methodology.

Job responsibilities

 

  • Plan, design, install, configure, and support a highly resilient and stable mainframe network infrastructure.
  • Drive automation of mainframe network engineering tasks using scripting and workflow-based approaches where feasible.
  • Perform mainframe network product installations, customizations, and evaluations.
  • Define, maintain, and modify existing z/Series network products.
  • Manage and support transmission products including FTPs (SSL), sFTP (SSH), and Connect:Direct Secure (NDM).
  • Manage and support session manager applications such as TPX and Supersession.
  • Develop mainframe network toolkits leveraging NetMaster, NetView, REXX, and CLISTs.
  • Maintain mainframe network components including TCP/IP (DVIPA/DDVIPA), IPSEC, IPFILTER, IDS, Enterprise Extender (EE), SNA, VTAM, APPN, and OSA connectivity to the core.
  • Provide logical connectivity between applications and mainframe subsystems.
  • Perform performance tuning and develop/maintain operational procedures and runbooks.
  • Support TCP/IP encryption methods (IPSEC, AT-TLS, TLS) and monitor protocols/ciphers aligned to company policies.

    Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

     

    • Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 2+ years applied experience
    • Strong understanding of mainframe networking concepts and technologies including VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, APPN, and OSA.
    • Working knowledge of security and encryption methods including IP Security/IPSEC, AT-TLS, TLS, and related controls.
    • Experience with mainframe transmission products and secure file transfer (FTPs over SSL, sFTP over SSH, Connect:Direct Secure/NDM).
    • Experience supporting session management tools (e.g., TPX, Supersession).
    • Proficiency with z/OS operational tooling and constructs including JCL, SDSF, VSAM, SMP/E, IBM utilities, and Unix System Services.
    • Experience working in Parallel Sysplex environments.
    • Hands-on skills with network tools such as NDM, TPX, NetView, and NetMaster.
    • Experience with automation/scripting using one or more of JCL, REXX, Unix shell scripting, or zOSMF workflows.
    • Knowledge of network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Omegamon, Mainview, tracing, sniffers).
     
     
    Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Build RESTful APIs using Swagger or similar frameworks.
  • Apply intermediate understanding of business technology drivers to inform architecture design decisions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of an infrastructure technology plus basic programming languages or database management systems.
  • Deliver creative solutions through continuous improvement and automation.
