Advisory Group works to deliver banking services for a wide range of industries. Classic investment bankers have expertise in advising clients across industries, regions and products. Teams are organized by industry group, including Consumer Retail Group, Financial Institutions Group, Financial and Strategic Investors Group, Healthcare, Industrials, Natural Resources, Real Estate, and Technology, Media and Telecom.

On any given day, our Tokyo-based team may advise a Japanese or multinational company on a cross-border merger, structure the initial public offering of a subsidiary, refinance an outstanding bond, and more.

Role Responsibilities

The Investment Banking Team is looking for a Vice President to be based in Tokyo.

Our Vice Presidents play an important role in developing and strengthening our client relationships, participating on our advisory teams and in structuring and executing a full range of financial transactions. Their responsibilities include analyzing financial models, organizing and preparing client presentations, executing transaction processes, and assisting in origination. They will gain exposure to the firm’s businesses and expand their knowledge of the investment banking industry, as they develop key analytical, communications and marketing skills. 

Vice Presidents gain exposure to the firm’s global businesses and deepen their understanding of the investment banking industry while developing key analytical, communication, and marketing skills.

They are actively involved in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), fixed income, and equity issuances. Vice Presidents also:

  • Perform customized company valuation analysis
  • Coordinate teams of tax advisors, attorneys, and bankers
  • Lead due diligence processes
  • Participate in legal negotiations
  • Maintain client communication and help structure transactions 

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years’ investment banking or equivalent experience
  • Native Japanese language skills
  • History of outstanding academic and professional achievement
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work effectively across groups and regions
