Do you like turning numbers into strategy? Do you want to shape business decisions as our Financial Analyst? Do you like building financial models? Are you interested in playing a part in shaping the company's financial outcomes? Our Toronto based team is responsible for site closure execution and the operation of our North American Legacy Assets, overseeing Glencores 100-year legacy of mining, and associated post-closure assets in North America.

 

The role in a nutshell:

In this role, youll support the financial management of the closed sites group through month-end accounting, financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting/forecasting activities, helping ensure accurate reporting and informed decision-making across the portfolio. More specifically, you will be expected to:

  • Assist with financial data preparation and uploads to consolidation systems, with the opportunity to grow into a leadership role in the month-end process.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting, including month-end close activities (journal entries, reconciliations, tax reports, and bank reconciliations), and produce variance analysis for senior management.
  • Perform financial analysis to support business planning, including evaluating project/initiative viability and providing recommendations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual budgets, monthly reforecasts, and analysis of submissions from site teams.
  • Produce financial and operational reporting to support decision-making and monitor performance trends.
  • Manage accounts receivable and invoicing related to cost-sharing arrangements.
  • Prepare financial presentations for senior management and regulators (e.g., financial assurance modeling).
  • Coordinate information requests and support external audit processes.

 

 

Do you have what it takes?

  • CPA designation; Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting and/or budgeting, preferably in industrial applications but not required;
  • 1-3 years of experience in external audit and exposure to tax;
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles, IFRS, and financial reporting;
  • Advanced skills in financial software, Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems, specifically SAP and Oracle strongly preferred;
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and results oriented, willing to take on a variety of tasks;
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide relevant information;
  • Demonstrated effective organizational, planning and time management skills;
  • Ability to synthesize financial results well and translate them in a simple and concise way
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-department and cross-functional teams

 

Travel: No travel is necessary with this position.

Language: Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory.  The knowledge of French is beneficial.

Location: Corporate office in Toronto 5 days a week.

Only candidates with full working rights in Canada will be considered.

 

The interview process may begin before the end of the posting period.

 

The expected base salary for this position is 88 000$ to 121 000$, based on competencies, skills, and qualifications and aligned with internal equity. The incumbent will also be eligible to participate in a variable compensation plan (bonus) (note: payment of variable compensation is subject to the terms and conditions of the variable compensation plan and is not guaranteed).
