        Join our D. E. Shaw Credit Opportunities team in New York. The D. E. Shaw group seeks talented analysts to join its Credit Opportunities (CROP) group as an integral member of the team which invests in event-driven credit and credit-informed special situations across all industries.         What youll do day-to-day

        • Research economic issues and present research results in reports, tables, and charts.
        • Conduct differentiated, bottoms-up fundamental economic analyses of companies, business models, relevant industry metrics, and industries.
        • Prepare written technical reports for management to help them understand how the economy will affect companies and industries.
        • Formulate recommendations, policies, and plans to solve economic problems.
        • Conduct surveys and collect data by participating in quarterly earnings calls and monitoring material news events related to stressed and distressed companies.
        • Collect data by attending industry conferences and management meetings, identifying and analyzing relevant industry metrics, and evaluating new coverage.
        • Analyze data using mathematical models and statistical techniques, including building and using financial models, benchmarking, and other analytical tools, to explain economic phenomena and forecast trends in relevant sectors.
        • Interpret and forecast market trends in the credit space and review present and historical trends, SEC filings, transcripts, presentations, company materials, government and industry publications, and other sources of data.

        Who were looking for

        • A bachelors degree in economics, finance, or a related field of study.
        • Two years of experience in the following: corporate financial modeling, including credit-focused cashflow projections with integrated cashflow, liquidity, and covenant analysis; modeling debt schedules; pro forma models for M&A, refinancings, recaps, spin-offs, and liability management; valuation and scenario analysis, including liquidation waterfall analysis, credit instrument expected return analysis, and credit relative value analysis; building models in Excel; using CapitalIQ and FactSet to analyze investment opportunities; programming and working with APIs; and leveraging third-party data sets to predict business KPIs and outcomes.
        • As is customary for the employer, applicants who pass initial screening will be required to complete and pass a technical screening, involving a case study, which tests for financial literacy, data analysis, analytical skills, and commercial judgment.
        • The annual base salary for this position is $275,000.00 - $300,000.00. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
