OVERVIEW
The Junior Analyst will play a key role on the Alternative Investment Strategies (AIS) team in providing risk oversight of hedge fund investments across the full spectrum of strategies and communication of the results to the relevant internal and external stakeholders. The responsibilities include monitoring and reporting risk analytics across a broad array of asset classes and financial instruments at a portfolio level down to the individual positions, assisting in the development and maintenance of the technology framework, and performing risk due diligence of prospective investments. This is an entry level role ideal for candidates with 15 years of experience with statistics and knowledge of hedge fund investment strategies. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the reporting processes for the AIS daily, monthly, and quarterly risk deliverables
  • Gain and apply technical knowledge and skills to understand and enhance the risk management and research processes
  • Oversee adherence to investment guidelines and research any breaches and escalate concerns to senior members of team 
  • Perform ad-hock projects and analysis within our various risk and portfolio management systems
  • Collaborate with the research team to perform risk due diligence of prospective funds to evaluate the risk culture of the organization, the tools used internally are fit for purpose, and the fund is adhering to the AIS standards of best practices for their investment strategy
  • Stay informed of market developments and hedge trends and look to identify and quantify the potential exposure and impact on the desks investments
  • Communicate analysis clearly and confidently to senior colleagues, committees, and clients
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative culture of highstandards across the organization

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15 years of professional experience with knowledge of hedge fund strategies and investment risks associated across asset classes
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills; familiarity with statistical concepts, risk frameworks, and performance analysis
  • Understanding of investment risk methodologies and ability to apply risk techniques across and within asset classes 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to partner with the investment research team, existing clients, and external vendors
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with programming or statistical tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL) is a plus but not required 
  • Bachelors degree required; progress toward CFA or CAIA is a plus
