Our tribe owns and runs the group wide workflow and case handling platform that powers and automates key processes across the organisation. We focus on providing a reliable, scalable and secure Camunda based platform that product and process teams can build on.
Our diverse team is based in Lithuania, Denmark, Finland and India. In this role you will collaborate closely with other squads within the tribe, stakeholders from other tribes and business units, as well as external vendors and partners.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Camunda and Java engineer to help design, build and operate the Camunda platform and its surrounding infrastructure.
As a Chief Software Engineer, you will be expected to:
- Build and improve the Camunda platform, including runtime, security, observability and integrations
- Ensure the platform is reliable, scalable and cost efficient across cloud and on-premises environments
- Act as the go-to expert for Camunda, shaping technical decisions and solving complex issues
- Define standards, guardrails and best practices for Camunda usage across the Group
- Guide and mentor engineers working on the platform and related services
- Contribute hands-on to coding, debugging and platform improvements
- Ensure high code quality and maintainability through reviews, standards and reusable solutions
- Continuously improve the platform and engineering practices to enhance reliability and developer experience
Key qualifications:
Primary (Camunda platform expertise)
- Extensive experience with Camunda, ideally Camunda 8, including architecture, deployment models and operations
- Practical experience with Camunda upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, scaling and resilience
- Strong knowledge of multi-team usage patterns, Camunda Modeler, and core concepts such as BPMN, DMN, job workers and connectors
- Strong understanding of Operate, Optimize and OpenSearch, including production setup and integration with logging, monitoring and alerting
- Hands-on experience using job workers and connectors as reusable building blocks for other teams
Secondary (cloud, infrastructure and engineering)
- Strong knowledge of Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, AWS and Docker/Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and continuous integration and deployment practices
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing REST APIs, with understanding of SOA and microservices
- Experience with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ or IBM MQ and event-driven integrations
- Strong backend engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST and SOAP
- Familiarity with tools such as JUnit, JIRA, Bitbucket or Git, and Jenkins
- Experience with SQL Server or similar relational databases and Elasticsearch or OpenSearch

Monthly salary range from 4960 EUR to 7440 EUR gross (based on competencies relevant to the role).
