About this role:
The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations business lines. In addition, EFT provides unique technology solutions and innovation for Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed.
The Technical Director of Automation and AI Operations & Integration is a senior technical leadership role responsible for enterprisescale automation engineering, AIdriven operations (AIOps), operational insights and data activation platforms, and platform integration build capabilities across EFT Platform Management. This role provides singlethreaded technical ownership for highly interconnected horizontal platform capabilities that underpin platform reliability, automation at scale, datadriven operations, AIenabled decisioning, and integration delivery across all EFT platforms and product teams. In addition, this role owns the strategy and roadmap for AIdriven Operations and Automation, ensuring capabilities are scalable, governed, and aligned to enterprise reliability, risk, security, and compliance objectives.
The scope of the role spans shared enterprise platforms rather than a single application or domain and requires deep technical expertise, architectural judgment, and enterpriselevel decision authority.
In this role, you will:
Enterprise Technical Ownership
- Provide endtoend, singlethreaded technical ownership across Custom Solutions & Automation Engineering, AI Operations (AIOps) and intelligent automation, Operations Insights and Data Activation platforms and Platform Integration Build capabilities
- Serve as the accountable technical leader ensuring architectural integrity, scalability, and reliability across these platforms.
AI Operations & Automation Strategy
- Define, own, and execute the AI Operations and Automation strategy and multiyear roadmap.
- Ensure AIenabled capabilities support proactive operations, predictive insights, automated remediation, and selfhealing behaviors.
- Establish AI governance standards to ensure compliant, explainable, and reliable production use.
Architecture & Platform Standards
- Drive architectural consistency, tooling standardization, and solution reuse across automation, AI, data, and integration platforms.
- Ensure platform designs align to enterprise architecture principles and longterm reliability objectives.
- Balance runtheplatform stability with buildthefuture innovation.
Reliability, Risk, Security & Compliance
- Translate enterprise reliability, operational resilience, risk, security, and compliance requirements into executable engineering standards.
- Ensure automation and AI platforms are resilient, auditable, and productionready in regulated environments.
- Partner with risk, security, and compliance stakeholders to proactively manage control expectations.
CrossFunctional Engineering Leadership
- Lead coordination across engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), operations, data, and partner teams.
- Provide technical direction across highly interdependent initiatives to prevent fragmentation, duplication, and toolcentric execution.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience
- 3+ years of experience with platform and distributed systems architecture, automation frameworks and orchestration, and AI enabled operational capabilities (AIOps, intelligent monitoring, predictive insights)
- 3+ years of designing and building complex observability solutions leveraging industry standard toolset and/or custom built solutions
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience designing or operating AIenabled operations platforms in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Deep familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Experience defining and executing multiyear platform or automation roadmaps.
- Strong communication and influence skills with senior technical and business leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to translate enterprise reliability, risk, and compliance requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Experience with configuration and monitoring technologies such as Ansible, Grafana, Elastic, Splunk, Prometheus
- Ability to develop and execute business vision, strategies, and goals
- Ability to research and self-study to keep technical skills relevant in a highly complex environment
- Experience with design, implementation and governance with Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning Architecture
- Experience with Agile, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CI/CD), DevOps concepts, and Site Reliability Engineering principles
- Knowledge and understanding of complex enterprise systems and frameworks including frontends, middleware, services layer, database, backend, and downstream interfaces
Job Expectations:

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
Salary is just one component of Wells Fargo's total rewards package. Depending on the role, a Wells Fargo's employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
