Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Accounting GSG/GBS Team in Colombia ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Accounting Senior analyst is responsible for ensure that transactions booked in the GL systems reflect the economic reality, considering the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions for the bank’s subsidiaries and guarantee the reasonableness of accounting information under the scope of the  Accounting GSG/GBS Team in Bogota.

 

Accountabilities 

•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

•    Perform requested documentations for auditing purposes.

•    Perform financial analysis and reporting to Supervisor as needed.

•    Accounts reconciliation belongs to Balance Sheet accounts.

•    Process Journal entries / reconciliation process and variance analysis as required.

•    Generate financial reports and statements to Supervisor for review.

•    Analyze financial discrepancies and recommended effective resolutions.

•    Prepared and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations.

•    Attend meetings as required by team leaders.

•    Identify process improvement opportunities for team and escalate to Accounting Supervisor.

•    Keep Desktop Training Procedures (DTP) documents for relevant processes up to date.

•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience /

•    English B1 Level
•    Bachelor’s degree in public Accounting, (general knowledge in Accounting or Treasury, Accounts Payable, banking is a plus).
•    3+ years’ experience in general or tax accounting.
•    Experience with computerized ledger systems.
•    Knowledge of Excel and English skills (Intermediate).
•    Analytical skills.
•    Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment.c
