Job Function Summary
- The Platform Solutions Execution Management department sits at the forefront of the firms industry-leading initiatives to apply technology, quantitative analysis, and data-driven methods to its execution process. The team leverages its analysis of the firms trading to advise decision-making at both the highest levels of the firm and at the finest level of detail.
- Based in London, UK, the Commodities Sector Specialist candidate will report to the Global Head of Cross-Asset Macro Strategy. The Commodities Sector Specialist will support and grow Millenniums intelligence across the entire commodities universe, providing valuable information to investors across all asset classes. This includes expanding Millenniums corporate engagement and corporate access efforts and producing proprietary analysis and content to support our investment teams.
- The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical and communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and a proven ability to follow tasks through to completion. Sector Specialists are expected to develop professionally and work collaboratively across business functions. Direct commodities markets experience is required for this role. Experience in the following is a plus, but not required: Equity Research (buy- or sell-side), Investment Banking, and/or Investor Relations.
Principal Responsibilities
- Partner with the Global Head of Cross-Asset Macro Strategy in the build-out of Millenniums commodities intelligence offering, including the creation of a strategic plan and initiatives aimed developing a robust a program of content to support Millenniums investment teams and optimizing the supply and quality of corporate access opportunities
- Serve as the leader for Commodities intelligence, including building and maintaining strong corporate and expert relationships through regular engagement (c. 250 interactions annually) and collaborating with brokers on access events, including non-deal roadshows, expert meetings, conferences, and field trips
- Lead, manage and mentor team members by providing guidance, recognizing priorities, addressing challenges, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
- Create detailed meeting notes from meetings with corporates, industry experts, fieldtrips and conferences
- Build and strengthen relationships with Millennium investment professionals to understand their needs and requirements to factor into a curated content and access program
- Engage with Millennium investment professionals to enhance their investment analysis and coverage of companies, including the analysis of various sources such as public documents, interaction with company management teams, the sell-side and industry experts
- Lead, host or participate in Millennium access meetings and generate proprietary content and analysis for investment professionals
- Partner closely with other Millennium business areas including Corporate Access, ECM, Branding and Communications and other areas of the Firm to advance Millenniums overall access, branding and positioning efforts
- Attend events where corporates and investors are present, including IR education events, conferences, and trade shows
- Represent Millennium in a compelling manner, ensuring a positive corporate experience and perception
- Implement and leverage technology solutions to document and enhance the management of corporate access interactions
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Direct commodities markets experience is essential and non-negotiable with a proven track record of experience within financial services, specifically Equity Research, Origination or Investor Relations
- Flexibility to work independently and thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Ability to effectively engage with data, efficiently conduct in-depth research and expediently process and synthesize information
- Ability to develop relationships with investment professionals to gain an understanding of their needs as an investor
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Strong client/customer service orientation with consistent follow-through
- Bachelors degree required
