As an Associate within the Asia Commodities Physical Operations team, you will provide operational and logistical support for physical commodities sales and trading desks across the transaction lifecycle. You will partner closely with sales, trading, vendors, and other business partners to ensure seamless business flows, diligent controls, and timely resolution of client queries and issues. You will also support business growth by driving process improvements and leveraging intelligent automation tools to create efficiencies and competitive advantage.

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and logistical support for Physical Commodities sales and trading desks
  • Ensure all controls are diligently performed, completed, and signed off on a timely basis
  • Collaborate closely with Front office, operations, credit, compliance, legal and technology team to ensure timely resolution of client queries and issues
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including financial institutions, clients, vendors, front office, credit, legal and operations team globally
  • Identify and deliver process improvements that increase efficiency, enhance control or reduce manual touchpoints  
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with all support teams and external stakeholders to ensure the timely and efficient resolution of queries
  • Participate and contribute to the various strategic initiatives; keep improving and evolving processes and business architecture

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills: 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Physical Trade Operations, Trade/Sales Support, Middle Office or Settlements within Financial Services
  • Familiarity with commodities products
  • Understanding of shipping documentation, including shipping terms, letters of credit, and logistics coordination 
  • Strong focus on controls, attention to details and sense of ownership
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with both clients and internal business partners  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively, explain, and challenge, as appropriate
  • Meticulous, independent, self-motivated with good analytical skills
  • Positive attitude to change; desire to do things better and more efficiently

     

  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications 
  • Bachelor's Degree

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills: 

  • Knowledge of physical precious metals is considered an advantage  
  • Experience in Banking industry or in a Trading House preferred
  • Prior knowledge/experience on Intelligent Automation Tools e.g. Alteryx, UiPath an advantage
