As a Software Engineer III-Python/PERL/.Net/Java at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank-Credit Technology team – you will be focused on delivering best in class IT solutions to the Credit Trading business where JP Morgan is a market leader.  You are ready to gain the skills and experience needed to grow within your role and advance your career — and we have the perfect software engineering opportunity for you.

You will be part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you will execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop robust, performant pricing, trading and risk systems including building new applications & enriching existing applications using the most suitable technology choices. Align development with the overall Credit trading strategy.
  • Work across entire software development lifecycle – requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, handover to operate teams.
  • Work closely with the Quant team to develop pricing and analytic components in Perl/Python
  • Enhance the team by demonstrating best practice throughout the software development lifecycle: testing, code review, accurate status reporting, focus on application resilience and “silent running”.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Strong analytical development skills, solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and experience in real-time, resilient, high performance and/or risk and pricing and/or e-Trading areas.
  • Proficient at least one scripting language; Perl / Python experience  
  • Experience and recognized expertise in server side Java development and design 
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases and proficiency in writing SQL queries
  • Experience in writing tests, object modelling and refactoring
  • Creative, quick-thinking, pragmatic, with an aptitude for solving problems with technology and an ability to quickly translate requirements into a sound technical design and implementation. 
  • Proven organizational skills, decisive priority management, strong teamwork ethic, excellent verbal & written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proven ability in full stack development
  • Experience in servicing .NET Clients/UI with database backend is highly desirable
  • Strong technology generalist – experience building highly performant and resilient enterprise applications used within a high performance/realtime environment
  • Experience working in a team with a strong software development process (build, test, deploy etc.) 
  • A desire for knowledge of the credit industry
