Join Mizuho as a Senior Software Engineer - Java/Python/SQL!
In this role, you will build data-intensive services and Spark pipelines on Kubernetes and Databricks. The ideal candidate will own delivery end-to-end with disciplined SDLC, high attention to detail, and mentor junior developers. Financial services experience required, ideally in Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, or Liquidity Risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop services (Java, Python) and ETL/ELT (SQL, Spark/PySpark) on Databricks.
- Containerize and deploy to Kubernetes; ensure logging/metrics/tracing.
- Apply strong SDLC: design reviews, testing, CI/CD, releases, monitoring.
- Partner with risk stakeholders; deliver audit-ready data contracts & controls.
- Review code, coach juniors, lead incident RCAs and remediation.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years in software/data engineering; expert in Java, Python, SQL.
- Hands-on Spark/Databricks (Delta, Spark SQL, performance tuning).
- Production Kubernetes experience (deployments, networking, autoscaling).
- Proven SDLC rigor and CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins).
- Finance/risk systems depth in at least one: Market, CCR, or Liquidity.
Nice to Have:
- Basel III/FRTB, Volcker, CCAR exposure.
- Unity Catalog, DLT, cluster policies; Terraform; Kafka; Airflow/Jobs.
- Secure APIs (REST/gRPC), OAuth2/OIDC, RBAC/ABAC.
- Reporting/limits usage, scenarios, reconciliation tooling.
The expected base salary ranges from $111,000-$180,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
