As a Director of Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking's Equities Futures & Options Execution Technology, you will lead a newly formed Execution DevOps team, building global DevOps coverage across Exchange Connectivity, Algorithmic Trading, and Market Data, and aligning strategy and tooling with the Order Management DevOps team. You will drive resiliency, automation, CI/CD, testing, and rapid recovery to support an always-on (24/7) trading operating model, leveraging AI-enabled innovation to improve stability and speed of change. Own mission-critical execution reliability - where seconds matter - building AI-powered automation and near-zero-downtime resiliency for global markets.

We are in the midst of a significant multi-year investment and modernization program to build new, best-in-class, internally developed platforms - replacing a mix of legacy in-house and vendor technologies. Operating as an independent layer from application development and integration, you will define and deliver a best-in-class model for platform resiliency, automation, and operational excellence - built to thrive in an environment where seconds of downtime matter. You will be expected to leverage AI aggressively to accelerate innovation and deliver tooling and frameworks that strengthen change management, observability, and recovery. You will be supported by existing core development teams already investing in dedicated automation and resiliency capabilities.

  • Automate the software delivery lifecycle, including testing, change management, release processes, and manual operational workflows.
  • Own resiliency outcomes: automate failover, improve recovery time, and raise operational readiness across services.
  • Test and validate individual applications and end-to-end integrations across execution, connectivity, and market data.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders and clients to configure, update, and evolve trading applications and downstream components.
  • Collaborate across Application Development, Integration, Business Analysis, and Production Management to deliver stable, production-grade outcomes.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proven, hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced programming expertise, including Unix scripting, Python, and Java, focused on automation, monitoring, and surveillance.
  • Deep knowledge in software engineering processes and one or more technical domains (e.g., cloud, AI/ML, etc.).
  • Strong scripting skills for automating development, testing, and integration tasks (Shell/Perl/Python).
  • Experience creating and automating test strategies and test plans (functional and non-functional) and executing them in production-grade environments.
  • Ability to solve design and functionality problems independently with minimal oversight.
  • Practical cloud-native experience.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with electronic trading, including protocols such as FIX.
