The FI sector team holds a leading position in providing Financial Markets, Lending, Trade Finance, Payments, and Capital Markets & advisory services to a broad range of FI clients, including banks, financial sponsors, insurance companies, funds, and FinTechs.

Operating on a global coverage model, the FI sector team plays a key role in driving origination opportunities across ING. Your role as Relationship Manager FinTechs

You are responsible for the end-to-end management of a portfolio of FinTech clients, including PSPs, online brokers, CASPs, RegTech, InsurTech and WealthTech players. You drive the strategic and commercial agenda, while ensuring that all activities are conducted within INGs risk appetite and regulatory framework.

By combining market insight, commercial skills and risk ownership, you help clients grow responsibly and position ING as their long-term strategic banking partner.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and develop senior relationships with FinTech and PSP clients in the Netherlands and the Nordics

  • Act as a strategic sparring partner for FinTech management teams, supporting them through scaleup, international expansion and increasing regulatory complexity

  • Lead the strategic dialogue with clients on growth, expansion, funding, payment innovation and broader financial needs

  • Originate and execute commercial opportunities, including RfPs and complex cross-border transactions

  • Define and execute the commercial strategy for your client portfolio, contributing to sustainable, high-quality earnings

  • Coordinate closely with Transaction Services, Capital Markets & Advisory, Lending and Financial Markets teams

  • Act as the first line owner for non-financial risk, including KYC, client due diligence and ongoing risk assessments

  • Proactively identify, manage and escalate compliance, regulatory and reputational risks, balancing commercial objectives with control requirements

  • Prepare and manage commercial, credit and risk approval processes in collaboration with FI Lending and Risk Management

  • Ensure seamless execution of both flow business and complex deals, with high standards of client experience

  • Coach and develop junior team members, contributing to a strong and consistent coverage culture

About you

  • An experienced FI or Fintech banker, with strong understanding of FinTech and PSP business models, trends and regulatory drivers

  • Commercially sensitive, with the ability to turn complex client needs into structured opportunities

  • Comfortable operating in a highly regulated environment, taking full ownership of nonfinancial risk and recognising that robust FEC/AML risk management is fundamental to successful partnerships with FinTechs and PSPs

  • Relationship-driven, persuasive communicator, and trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders

  • Entrepreneurial, curious and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities in a fast-moving environment

  • Strong understanding of the Wholesale Banking product suite

Candidate Profile

  • Academic Masters degree

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, with proven exposure to FinTechs and/or PSPs

  • Demonstrated ability to combine commercial growth with disciplined risk and control ownership

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and Dutch
