The mission

You will work in the dynamic, both business & tech exposed environment of BI & Analytics Wholesale Banking. The growing needs for data driven decisions and increased data fluency across the organization, converged with the fast-paced changes in the technologies available make Data Management in general and BI & Analytics in particular, a focal point of the strategy supported by top management in ING. The current solutions already serve hundreds of colleagues supporting the global Wholesale Banking network in Financial Markets, Transaction Services, Lending departments and the full potential is still to be reached.

Area of responsibility

We are looking for an energetic manager with proven experience in building and operationalizing BI solutions while advancing architecture in private and public cloud and partnering with the business for best fit solutions.

You are a naturally collaborative person who listens and invests in others to achieve common goals. Your technical leadership enables you to grow craftsmanship on the part of chapters in your area and to drive the career path of talented engineers within Hubs Romania as well as cross-border.

As IT Area Lead you will facilitate predictable delivery of software, with respect to functional and non-functional requirements, including implementation of the IT security standards within ING risk framework for the assets you are responsible for.

Your day-to-day:

  • Responsible for effective collaboration and for one Agile Way of Working in your area and as part of the Data Management Tribe;

  • You prove people-oriented management and focus on growth of the Chapter leads and engineers by continuously develop their capabilities and competencies to remain up-to-market in their field at all times;

  • Implement and safe-guard best practices for development and maintenance of BI solutions being mindful of resilience, performance and proper incident management;

  • Contribute to the IT strategy with proper IT Landscape for your area in line with the banks IT strategy;

  • Identify and adopting applicable changes in the market with regards to innovation, time to market, procedures, processes, and methods used in your area 

  • Ensure a safe and compliant bank from an IT perspective;

  • Ensure stability and reliability of the IT Landscape (including the IT architecture of your IT assets).

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Bachelor and/or Master diploma in Computer Science, Econometrics, or related;

  • Proven track record in successfully managing software projects & teams throughout the complete project lifecycle with clear applicability in BI and Reporting solutions, mandatory with Microsoft technologies (SQL Server 2016 or higher, SSIS 2016 or higher, SSAS 2016 or higher, SSRS, Power BI);

  • Ability to navigate an environment with cross-border teams and interface with international stakeholders;

  • Passionate about innovation, data usability and new market trends in Data;

  • You are passionate about growing and developing technical people and managers;

  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills;

  • Ability to display style flexibility to teams and adapt plan, approach and behavior to the different needs and situations;

  • Strong organizational sensitivity and the ability to understand and consider the underlying issues, opportunities, and dynamics of the cross-border organization;

  • Continuous improvement mind-set;
