HASE Business Risk and Resilience under Chief Operating Office (COO)
We are seeking a high-calibre professional to join our team as Senior Manager Business Risk & Control (GCB4). The role is part of the Business Risk and Resilience Function with the purpose to build customer trust and empower business growth in an ever-changing environment. We combine deep risk expertise with agility. Through delivering data-driven intelligence, innovation and operational excellence, we proactively manage risks and strengthen resilience.
The role will allow you to make meaningful impacts, with a strong emphasis on risk insights, change delivery, and influencing outcomes with key stakeholders.
Principal responsibilities
Accountable for implementation of risk management frameworks and policies for Hong Kong Business, shaping priorities and driving risk based, strategic outcomes
Lead and deliver change initiatives across risk and control, including process simplification and automation, control uplift programmes.
Act as a trusted partner to senior management and a broad range of stakeholders, informing and advising on risk appetite, policy interpretation, control design and operations, translating requirements into practical business actions.
Deliver robust risk governance and oversight with a forward-looking view of key risks; Drive the regulatory compliance risk agenda with high quality reviews, specialist risk and control knowledge and business insights
Produce high quality governance papers ensuring clear narrative, strong rationale and decision-ready recommendations.
Deliver management updates and presentations to senior forums on risk insights, trends, and actions in a compelling and concise way.
Deep connection with business / functional teams and working partners (e.g. Products, Sales, Risk Stewards, Audit), manage challenges and effectively influence and drive timely decisions, resolve issues and embed sustainable controls in an agile and optimized manner.
Bring creativity and constructive challenges - question the status quo, identify gaps and opportunities, and propose pragmatic solutions that improve customer, business and risk outcomes.
Identify and activate cross-team collaboration opportunities that accelerate delivery, enhance risk management and strengthen end-to-end control effectiveness.
Contribute to managing and shaping a high-performing team of specialists to deliver with strong accountability and judgement
Requirements
University graduate with minimum 10 years of work experience in banking or financial services, with proven track record in risk and control management
Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and practices, particularly regulatory compliance and financial crime risks; solid understanding of the external business operating environment and risk drivers
Adaptable with demonstrated capability to lead change, manage projects/workstreams end-to-end, and deliver outcomes at pace in complex environments.
Outstanding stakeholder management and influencing skills, including confidence in engaging senior leaders and challenging constructively.
Strong communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written) having the ability to articulate complex concepts in clear, concise and simple language
Great sense of ownership with sound decision-making and critical thinking
Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
