Some careers have more impact than others.

If youre looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued youll be.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world, with operations in 62 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realize their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Data Analyst.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Data Analyst role within the Data Analysis Team supports global, time-sensitive operations by analysing and resolving static data quality issues. You will perform root cause analysis, deliver short-term fixes and longer-term improvements, and ensure work is completed with high accuracy and integrity in line with Functional Instruction Manual guidelines. The role also requires proactive operational risk management, capacity planning, and performance measurement to maintain strong control standards.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyse business requirements, communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders, and manage expectations on timelines and turnaround time.
  • Investigate, standardise, and classify data quality issues, complete root cause analysis, and implement solutions that improve quality and reduce manual workarounds.
  • Own assigned projects end-to-end, prioritising workload to meet deadlines and handling peak volumes and shift-based working where required.
  • Identify process risks and delivery impacts early, and ensure actions taken minimise operational risk and meet compliance obligations.
  • Build effective working relationships across global teams, including users, technology teams, and business stakeholders, and support audit and regulatory actions by delivering required control improvements on time.
  • Support team capability by transferring knowledge, creating training plans for new joiners, and confirming readiness for business as usual work.

To be successful you will:

  • Have strong data analysis capability and experience working with large datasets, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications and Structured Query Language, and be comfortable using multiple internal systems such as Integrated Static Data, Enterprise Reference Data Services, Legal Entity Management, Global Customer Due Diligence Utility, Carm for Bank, NGT Global, and Mainframe applications.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and confidence negotiating priorities and timelines.
  • Understand operational risk and internal controls in a regulated environment; knowledge of trade reporting regulations such as the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation is beneficial, as is understanding the end-to-end trade lifecycle.
