Job Profile

A Tokyo-based role reporting to the Head of Marketing, Asia & Middle East to drive marketing strategies for Japan and help achieve business growth objectives:

  • Own the marketing plan for Asset Management in Japan. Lead planning, development and management of all marketing strategies aimed at acquiring business from new and existing clients
  • Lead the marketing team in Japan. Empower and enable colleagues to achieve marketing and business goals
  • Plan and execute campaigns utilising traditional media, social and digital media, website, events, partnerships, collaterals, etc. to raise the profile of HSBC AM amongst wholesale and institutional clients
  • Plan and organise proprietary client events to engage target audiences and fulfil pre-determined marketing and sales KPIs. Identify high-impact industry event sponsorships where our capabilities can be showcased effectively to relevant target audiences
  • Create sales enablement content and localise marketing materials from other points-of-manufacture to support product launches, campaigns, events and other client initiatives
  • Manage, track and report the costs, efficiencies and ROI of marketing activities
  • Track and analyse competitors activities as well as industry trends with the aim of enriching HSBC AMs marketing proposition
  • Partner with the sales/business development team to understand and fulfil client needs
  • Establish collaborative relationships with various internal stakeholders including - Investments, Compliance, Product Marketing, Marketing Delivery, Product Development etc. to ensure marketing activities are delivered in a smooth and timely manner
  • Build relationships with HSBC Group businesses to facilitate collaborative marketing efforts and aid the business in achieving its objectives
  • Partner with the Communications Team to identify and leverage external and internal publicity opportunities
  • Manage external vendors such as creative agencies, media planners, production houses and event organisers
  • Ensure Global Standards, core process and procedures are followed and monitored, and global and local compliance and audit requirements are fully met

Certifications, Qualifications & Experience (For the Job not the Job holder. Minimum requirements of the Job)

  • University graduate
  • At least 15 years asset management marketing experience, covering Japan, including in leadership roles
  • Credible experience in delivering campaigns and projects across the marketing mix (ATL, BTL, digital, events, etc.)
  • Strong track record of managing marketing teams, mentoring team members and guiding them to succeed in their roles
  • Demonstrable understanding of the local regulations, client profiles and competitive landscape
  • In-depth knowledge of investment terminology and understanding of portfolio management concepts. Ability to break down complex investment ideas into client-friendly marketing messages
  • Excellent communication skills written and oral Japanese (native) and English
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work in a matrixed environment and with teams from different backgrounds
  • Proven project management skills - deadline and detailed-oriented
