We are seeking a high-calibre professional to join HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad as Head of Finance Strategy and Execution, Malaysia.

Principal Responsibilities:

Reporting to and supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), HSBC Malaysia, this role leads Finances: 1) Transformation agenda; 2) People and talent management; and 3) Risk and control obligations.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Embedding Finances vision and strategy by establishing an operating model aligned to transformation objectives.
  • Driving the people agenda, including talent planning, resourcing needs, and communications in support of the CFO.
  • Ensuring robust governance, frameworks, and processes to manage first- and second-line Finance controls, including bank-wide SOX compliance.
  • Managing Finances cost base, including budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and allocation; identifying and delivering sustainable cost efficiencies aligned to Global Finance targets.
  • Providing delivery oversight and/or governance for Finance-specific and broader market transformation initiatives, as required.
  • Promoting best practice across Finance to strengthen operational standards and consistency.
  • Managing the CFO scorecard, including the implementation and tracking of objectives and targets.
  • Reviewing management reports, presentations, and papers, and providing timely updates and briefings for the CFO.

Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified with 10 years experience in finance/business, operations management, or information technology; transformation experience is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, with experience building, developing, and motivating teams (direct and matrix), aligned to HSBCs values.
  • Strong commercial judgement, including a solid understanding of profitability and return drivers within financial institutions.
  • Proven capability in business and financial planning, with end-to-end experience shaping strategy and executing transformation.
  • Strong operational management skills, including the design and deployment of risk and control frameworks and the ability to assess emerging risk trends.
  • Confident communicator, able to produce senior-management-ready reporting, analysis, and commentary, and to challenge constructively with sound judgement.
  • Highly collaborative and stakeholder-focused, with the ability to influence across functions and levels to deliver global and local priorities.
  • Resilient and agile, comfortable working at pace and responding to ad hoc demands; practical, forward-looking, and inquisitive, with strong emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills.
