Credit Analyst Business Credit Office (BCO)

The Business Credit Office (BCO) team is part of COO at HSBC Mexico. As a Credit Analyst (BCO Analyst), youll own the end-to-end (E2E) credit process for Wholesale Banking customers, supporting Relationship Managers to structure credit solutions aligned to the financial needs of Corporate, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions and Multinational clients. Your work will help grow HSBCs lending portfolio and contribute to the banks economic objectives.

Throughout the role, youll gain exposure to senior stakeholders across Wholesale Banking, Wholesale Credit Risk, Syndications and Credit Services (back office), while developing financial/business acumen, attention to detail, analytical and strategic thinking, planning and relationship management skills. Youll also support transactions across industries such as media, services, manufacturing, autoparts, project finance, hospitality, pharma, retail, oil & gas, agroindustries, food & beverage, NBFIs, real estate, transportation, among others.

Key responsibilities

Growing the lending portfolio

  • Partner with Relationship Managers to structure short- and long-term credit solutions for corporate customers.
  • Identify and assess risks to ensure appropriate mitigation and compliance with Mexican banking regulation and HSBC internal policies.
  • Prepare credit applications written 100% in English, including detailed borrower assessment: financial statement analysis, industry analysis and annual projections to evaluate repayment capacity.

Portfolio monitoring

  • Work closely with Relationship Managers and clients to monitor compliance with financial and non-financial terms, identifying negative trends in the customer or industry.
  • Ensure completeness of credit files to facilitate credit operations (payments and disbursements).

Customer-facing activities

  • Engage with customers to follow up on documentation required for portfolio management.
  • Obtain first-hand information from customers to support monitoring analysis and/or new lending opportunities.

Internal coordination

  • Build effective communication bridges with internal support teams (spreading, file monitoring, operations, legal) to manage assigned customers efficiently.

Skills & qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • 2 years of credit analysis experience.
  • Ability to understand business and industry drivers.
  • Proactive communication/partnership with Relationship Managers and supporting groups.
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to manage/sequencing multiple deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelors degree in Economics, Actuarial Science, Financial Management, Public Accounting, Industrial Engineering or Chemical Engineering (or related).
  • Proficient English (role requires writing credit applications in English).
  • Financial statement analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of derivatives.
