Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Specialist to join a well-established organisation in Muscat, Oman, operating in asset-backed financing, marine, aviation and industrial sectors. This is a full-time, on-site position offering the opportunity to take full ownership of the company’s insurance portfolio and play a critical role in protecting high-value international assets throughout the entire deal lifecycle.

As Insurance Specialist, you will act as the central point for all insurance matters, ensuring seamless coordination with brokers, insurers, internal deal teams, banks and counterparties in a dynamic, cross-border environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the placement, renewal, and day-to-day administration of all corporate insurance policies (Marine Hull & Machinery, P&I, War Risk, Protection & Indemnity, aviation, motor fleet, liability and other relevant covers).
  • Review insurance and indemnity clauses in financing agreements, charter parties, sale & purchase contracts, and loan documentation to ensure full compliance.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive insurance schedules covering limits, deductibles, conditions, exclusions, premiums and renewal dates.
  • Ensure timely issuance, verification and filing of certificates of insurance, endorsements, debit notes, invoices and proof of payment.
  • Proactively monitor renewal deadlines and contractual insurance obligations; escalate risks as needed.
  • Coordinate with international brokers and underwriters (London, Scandinavian, Middle-East and Far-East markets) for quotations, placements and policy adjustments.
  • Provide insurance support during due diligence, bank reporting, audits and transaction execution.
  • Lead the claims management process: gather documentation, liaise with brokers/loss adjusters, track progress and report internally.
  • Verify insurance invoices, allocate costs correctly and track premium payments.
  • Prepare regular insurance status reports, exposure summaries and renewal pipelines for senior management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of direct experience in corporate insurance, with strong exposure to marine insurance (essential) gained at a shipowner/operator, P&I club, insurance broker or insurer.
  • Solid knowledge of aviation, motor fleet and general corporate insurance products.
  • Proven track record in reviewing insurance wording in commercial and financing contracts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple renewals and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills; comfortable dealing with international brokers and underwriters.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience maintaining insurance databases/schedules.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (mandatory).
  • Fluency in French or Spanish is a significant advantage due to the international nature of the assets and counterparties.
  • Relevant insurance qualifications (ACII, CIM, or similar) are highly desirable.
