JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

As a vice president in the Global Banking Markets Legal group, you are expected to be pro-active in guiding the businesses on legal matters and substantial transactional involvement will be a feature of this position. You will work closely with business professionals across the firm, as well as with outside counsel. Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Providing legal advice and support to the fixed income business with a particular focus on asset secured lending, commodities trading (derivatives and physical trading) and ad doc coverage of fx, bond and interest rate matters ;
  • Providing legal advice and support for the drafting, reviewing and negotiating transaction documentation
  • Working with teams on structuring issues taking into account regulatory/reputational concerns
  • Responsibility for relationships with external counsel and ensuring appropriate legal comfort is in place
  • Interacting with the sales teams and traders to address legal issues as they arise in day-to-day trading activities
  • Reviewing, monitoring and driving implementation of regulatory developments relating to fixed income business including the mortgages business and commodities (financial, physical and commodity-specific)
  • Liaising and coordinating with other relevant groups throughout the firm, including other members of the legal department, credit, treasury, compliance, controllers, operations, tax
  • Involvement in reviews of new markets and new products

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to engage proactively as an advisor to the business and confidently work with senior stakeholders surrounding complex situations
  • Strong legal and business judgment, communication, writing and analytical skills
  • 6+ years PQE, Singapore or English law qualified
  • Relevant post-qualification experience with a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel;
  • An ability to demonstrate a strong grounding in financing and commodities, securities law and regulation
  • International law firm/International work experience, in house experience not a must.
