Safety and Assurance Coordinator

An opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Safety and Assurance Coordinator at Ulan Surface Operations (USO). Reporting to the Health, Safety and Training Manager, the Safety and Assurance Coordinator is an integral member of the Health, Safety and Training team.

The primary purpose of this role is to:

• Implement and continuously improve the USO Assurance program and processes

• Provide support and advice to departments in relation to safety matters to ensure compliance and understanding of the Work Health and Safety Management System

• Ensure ongoing implementation of the sites Emergency Management Plan

• Actively participate in the preparation and monitoring of the Annual HSEC Plan

• Coordinate and participate in safety reporting and associated programs

Key responsibilities are to implement and validate completion of all assurance activities from both internal and external stakeholders.  Monitor compliance, identify improvements, and implement treatment plans that address identified shortfalls. 

To be successful in the role the applicant should possess:

• A Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety at a minimum

• A tertiary qualification in Safety, Systems or Assurance Auditing is desirable

• Prior experience in coal mining or heavy industry is highly regarded

• Strong communication and people skills

• Ability to schedule and coordinate programs with multiple stakeholders

• Resilience to adapt to a constantly changing environment

• A positive attitude, reliability, and commitment to working proactively

About Ulan Surface Operations

Ulan Surface Operations is part of the Ulan Complex and supports two highly productive Underground Mines, Ulan West and Ulan Underground.  Ulan Surface Operations coordinates approximately 10.3 million tonnes of saleable per annum and employs 110 people of the approximate 700 at the Ulan Complex.
