The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Program Engineer to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations.

The position will be based in Greater Sudbury (Falconbridge), Ontario. 

This is a full-time, permanent, staff position.

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

Work location is not accessible by public transportation.

Duties and Accountabilities: 

Reporting to Superintendent Smelter and Mill Engineering, the Program Engineer is responsible and accountable for providing metallurgical and technical support to optimize assigned smelter processes, ensuring accurate metallurgical and production accounting, recommending process control strategies to achieve forecasted production targets, and planning, implementing, and evaluating process changes in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. The incumbent works collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to support budgeting, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and enhance overall smelter performance.

Your personal commitment to health, safety, training, and continuous improvement will be the key to your growth in this role. 

Education and Skills

This position requires a university degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, or Process Engineering and approximately 10 years of experience in a metallurgical or process-based industrial environment, with a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario.

The incumbent must possess strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, with a solid understanding of the key drivers of optimal plant and smelter performance. The role requires the ability to interpret complex process data, influence operational decision-making, and effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, efficient, and reliable production outcomes.
